That’s right…… Chorizo can be local, in fact this Chorizo isn’t from Spain, it’s from Malhamdale and it’s proud originator is Chris Wildman of Paganum Produce.
Spanish chorizo and Portuguese chouriço get their distinctive smokiness and deep red color from dried smoked red peppers (pimentón/pimentão or colorau). Chris’s Yorkshire Chorizo follows this tradition but is made from good old British pork .
Yorkshire Chorizo can be eaten as is (sliced or in a sandwich), barbecued, fried, or boiled. It also can be used as a replacement for other meat ingredients and brings with it a very distinctive flavour.
Many of the local restaurants and hotels are now featuring the chorizo in their menus and you can buy it on line through a shop within the Yorkshire Dales Food Network.
